Comenius report from Spain, November 2010 (Milena Eickhoff)

In this semester the Comenius project keeps going on. The highlight was the language-trip to Almansa, a little town in Spain, close to Valencia. On Sunday the 21th of November we flew from Berlin to Mallorca and from Mallorca to Valencia. In the evening we rode the train to Almansa.

My exchange pupil was called Natalia, but I knew her before because the spanish pupils visited us in May 2010 in Berlin.

Natalia is 18 years old and a really pleasant person, speaking in English was not our problem.

Her mother was helpful and nice, I noticed that she always made the breakfast, lunch or dinner and kept the household every day.

The father was also very nice, but I couldn´t really communicate with the parents, because I couldn´t really understand their Spanish and the couldn´t really understand my English, so Natalia had to translate.

During the Comenius week we did many things. We visited Almansa, the environment, Valencia and Alicante. It was really interesting and funny to see so much from Almansa and the surrounding.

In the free time we played paintball, drove go-kart, went shopping, went swimming and we had a party until late at night. I love the parties in Spain.

I got to know the culture, the people, the Spanish ways of socialising and the way they live in Spain.

Altogether the week was funny and we did so many things, that I normally wouldn´t do that often.

But sometimes it was a little bit exhausting.

I think the people in Spain are funny, friendly and lively. But my opinion is that, in comparison to Germany the mothers do too much for the family.

I recommend the Comenius-project to everybody because it´s a very good experience and it´s a great feeling to have some friends in Spain.
